Abstract: 
From being the first to issue a safety certification for hoverboards to inspecting the Times Square Ball for New Year’s Eve, working at UL is anything but ordinary. Louis Bertschy, Field Engineering Area Manager, presents on the international safety science company’s Field Engineering Internship program. Attendees will learn a brief history of the 125-year-old company and its mission, an explanation of UL’s future goals and how UL’s important work impacts lives every day. Mr. Bertschy will also provide a detailed explanation of UL’s field engineering internship program, the ideal qualities UL looks for in a field engineer and how you can get involved today.
Biography: 
Louis Bertschy is the Area Field Services Manager for the Southwest/TX Area in UL’s Field Engineering Division. He is based in Weatherford, TX. The Field Engineering Group focuses on assisting clients to navigate increasingly complex supply chains and manufacture safe, high-performing products. We conduct more than 600,000 inspections, audits, field evaluations and product traceability services for clients in more than 120 countries. Field Engineering is leading the effort to both modernize how we partner with clients through technology and the use of data and analytics to drive enhanced field-related decisions. UL is a global safety science company offering business services to clients across strategic industries including consumer products, industrial products, medical, construction, energy, retail, banking and food services. UL’s services include product testing, inspection, certification, supply chain, environmental-related, transaction security, workplace safety and many others. The testing, inspection and certification sector represents a $30 billion dollar global market. Louis joined UL as a Field Representative in 2005 and has over 13 years of experience in Field Engineering. Louis received his M.B.A from the Keller Graduate School of Management and his bachelor’s degree in Science and Technical Management from DeVry University.
