A look into the crystal ball—future trends in Mechanical Engineering—employment outlook, employment options, and how to position for the future. Direct vs. contract employment—traditional jobs vs. the gig economy, engineering entrepreneurship, the advantages of engineering licensure, and the importance of thinking in terms of adding value whether working as a direct employee or an owner.
Biography: 
John Turner is the founder of Texas Engineering Services and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. He has over 30 years of industry experience with several distinguished organizations including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Defense (DoD), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), American Airlines, Jacobs Engineering, StandardAero, and Zodiac Aerospace. He has held positions from line engineering to the Vice President of Engineering for two large aerospace firms. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, with a Graduate Certificate in Systems Engineering, from New Mexico State University.
