Frankenstein and the Ethics of Energy Engineering

Abstract: 
This talk will get you thinking about energy-ethics-engineering through the classic tale of Frankenstein. I'll suggest that there are two very different lessons we might draw from the text. This will help us to get at some foundational questions about engineers and their roles and responsibilities.
Biography: 
Adam Briggle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion. His work focuses on the ethical and political dimensions of science and technology, especially with regard to energy, fracking, and climate change.
