J.N. Reddy delivers first Distinguished Engineering Lecture Series

J. N. Reddy

J.N. Reddy, a member of the National Academy of Engineering, presented the first Distinguished Engineering Lecture Series on Nov. 8, 2019, at UNT Discovery Park.

Reddy’s lecture on “Strain Gradient and Micropolar Non-Local Models with Applications to Structural Mechanics” elaborated on new continuum models that could answer questions about material and structural length scales that classic continuum mechanics models cannot.

Students and faculty from across the college attended the lecture put on by both the College of Engineering and its Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering.

“Hosting Dr. Reddy here at UNT was a pleasure,” said Kuruvilla John, chair of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering.  “His profound knowledge of the field underpinned the fruitful discussion on this topical area. Hearing from him about his expertise in the field, I believe, proved to be both inspirational and impactful for our students and faculty in both the department and college.”

The Distinguished Engineering Lecture Series seeks to bring esteemed speakers to UNT from across the nation to discuss their research and create a dialogue around innovations in engineering.
